The 31-year-old, who last turned out in the Premier League for Nottingham Forest, looks set to join the K League 1 side after landing in South Korea earlier on Monday. Upon getting in a taxi from Incheon International Airport, Lingard looked slightly perplexed after being handed a danso, a traditional Korean wind instrument used primarily in folk music.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Lingard was reportedly faced with a mammoth 26 offers before heading for an adventure in the Far East, in what seals a remarkable drop off for one of England's once most promising young talents. The midfielder tailed off during his latter years at United and famously went through 2019 without registering a goal or assist. He enjoyed a mini-resurgence at West Ham in 2021 but couldn't live up to that billing at Forest, becoming a free agent in the summer until this imminent FC Seoul transfer.

    WHAT NEXT FOR LINGARD?

The 32-cap England international will be geared up for the new K League 1 season having spent the last few months on an individual training regime in Dubai. FC Seoul's first league match of 2024 doesn't come until March 2, away to Gwangju.
